I mainly use it to make yogurt, which I do twice a week. The last 3 times heating milk to 180 degrees it never happened. This thermometer kept going up to 171 degrees and back down to 167 degrees, to the point where the milk got stuck in the pan and ruined the great taste of my yogurt. Today my husband noticed my problem and used an old Candy thermometer to show me what's wrong. We checked the battery and it's still fine, no problem. Therefore, this thermometer cannot be reliable. Since I can't go back, it's going in the trash.
