I have two medium sized (20 gallon) air compressors and use a small amount of compressed air every day. Using these valves as shutoff valves allows me to simply turn the compressor(s) off until the pressure drops to about 60psi and then turn them back on for a cycle. Thus, each compressor performs only a few cycles per week. It's impossible to hold air hose fittings tight enough to prevent extra cycles, and these little valves can add years to the life of your compressor. It also allows you to leave the compressor inside without scaring people with unexpected starts! Be sure to use two or three wraps of Teflon tape.
