Doesn't work with L2 USB hub

When connected to the L2 hub I have for the reader I have a blazing fast 10Mbps. That's over 10 hours for a 32GB card, so that's not good. I have a Macbook Pro with only Thunderbolt 3 ports that can be used with USB-C. The reader is USB 3. So I plugged it into a main USB 3 hub that comes straight from the Thunderbolt port. This gave me close to the advertised 500Mbps. So it works and works well, just not with secondary hubs. Since I would have to remove the backup drive to use this card reader, I'm not very happy with this limitation. I'm waiting for a Sandisk reader to see what I can do. Maybe the card readers are just that. Important note: I have an Insignia reader in the trash here. It worked great with a secondary hub but stopped mounting after about 10 uses. This Kingston is cheaper but Kingston makes cards so I figured it would be a good bet. It turns out not. The hard drive attached to this secondary hub is working properly with the expected throughput. Tried multiple ports. This is not a hub. This is a Kingston reader. So if you're connecting directly to a computer or main hub, that's probably fine. If not, it would be easier to copy and scan your data manually.

Pros
  • Memory card accessory
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
