I drink coffee regularly and the French Press has become my favorite method because it takes the least amount of effort to brew a good cup of coffee. I've lost several glass French Press jugs over the year to cats or clumsiness, and this time I decided to give the ceramic a try. The bamboo and matte ceramic finishes on this pitcher are beautiful and it's nice to start the morning with something this beautiful. The angle of the handle is good for pouring, the bamboo insulates it from heat, and the silicone inside the bamboo lid keeps it securely in place for easy, clean pouring. The fine mesh filter keeps the coffee grounds in my cup, even when I use pre-ground coffee (although you should always grind your beans fresh and coarse for the best flavor!). Easy to read instructions are supplied with the jug. Step-by-step instructions on how to make coffee in a French press, so it's a good choice even if you've never used it before. I followed the directions exactly and brewed the perfect 12 ounce cup of coffee. The ceramic body retains heat much better than any glass french press I've used, especially when preheated with hot water as the instructions recommend. It can only be hand washed, but I found it very easy to clean the smooth, shiny inside of the jug. The only reason I deducted a star is because the jug I received has a visible and uneven bond line between the ceramic coating. and a bamboo handle. It doesn't affect how I use the jug and I still like it a lot, but it detracts a little from the stylish aesthetic and if I were buying it to give away I'd be a little bit off on its quality disappointed.
