Stopped working after one winter

UPDATE 9/13/16: I left this plugged in to my Corvette during the fall and winter of 2015-2016. My car sat in cold weather (below 40F) for a few months and I went to check on the car in December and the charger died - no display and won't turn on. I left it unplugged for about 20 minutes and tried again, it turned on, ran on charge mode for about 10 minutes (making sure the correct battery type and voltage was selected) and then died again. Never turn it on again this time. Throw it away and will never buy this product again. After reading the reviews here, too many people have died after the first year. My brother-in-law and mother have chargers that are over 20 years old and are still great for charging car batteries. This thing didn't even survive half of the second winter. It's pathetic. ---------------------------------------------- - --- ------- This thing is big, almost the size of a car battery. But in design and function exactly what I was looking for in a charger and battery care device. I bought it because I have a 1972 Corvette. It runs all winter and I have had to replace the battery twice in the last 3 years due to the western Pennsylvania winter cycle. I bought a cheap die hard charger last year thinking it would do the job, but it has worked hard and crashed more often. This is to hold the charge after using the booster - but after 1 day it wouldn't start again so I bought this charger. I left it on for 24 hours and it showed an error code saying the battery couldn't hold a charge and needed to be replaced. Bought a new battery about a month ago, put it in the car and hooked up the bad boy. Last week I winterized the Vette and this time it started. The charge indicator is great in that it not only shows the voltage of the battery, but what percentage is left in it. It can charge fast and then switch to slow charging automatically. It can even act almost like a booster. Its launch function is pretty good, although the pause between attempts (3 minutes) seems like an eternity. It also works with boat and motorcycle batteries as well as the new gel type. I would definitely buy it again for any other cars that need to sit for long periods between uses.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
