CHARACTER 2nd is junk too

Ordered, lasted 20 days until the "loop fan" inside died and the unit burned out. Got a replacement. The same thing. The fan inside screeches and makes a terrible noise right out of the box. FAILURE is inherent. HUGE product. Two units in less than 2 months. General use, I charge the boat's battery before going outside. The second one is now garbage and I'm stuck with a $100 paperweight. I will no longer buy SHUMACHER products. The HIGH charger is NOT BAD.

Three years later it's still running and charging.

Well after 3 years I would like to give this charger more than 3 stars because it still works and charges. But there is a problem. I use it to charge my solar panels at night. However, there are always times when it won't charge, although I think it does. It seems that when my batteries aren't above 12.5V or less than 70%, the charger stops charging the batteries and reads them as "bad". To compensate I used a Schumacher SE 1052 manual charger to keep the voltage above 12.5V. This was alwaysโ€ฆ

Charges batteries

The first one I got wouldn't charge with any of the batteries I tried it on. I tried to get some replies from Schumacher support via email but they were very slow to respond. By the time they replied I had already arranged for a hassle free return to Revane. I bought the 2nd. I have charged 6 batteries with it so far. The reason I only gave it three stars is because it doesn't seem to drop from a 30 amp charge rate to trickle charge when the battery is fully charged as the battery voltage wasโ€ฆ

Be very careful with Schumacher orders as they often replace models that look similar but are completely different and not what you ordered! Now it has happened twice. It's not Rewain's fault, as Schumacher seems to switch models often and haphazardly. Also, stay away from models with the CA suffix (unless you live in California). The CA models aren't the same and have ridiculous safety features that make chargers far less useful. However, if you don't know anything about batteries, chargers or

Might be the best charger for the money!

I own a 50 acre property with many cars. 7 cars/trucks, 4 self-propelled lawn mowers, 2 ATVs, 2 generators and a tractor. Our batteries keep dying due to a strange magnetic anomaly in our area. I've looked through several well-known battery chargers at national discount stores that usually die out pretty quickly. Tired of spending good money on a not so good product, I decided to try a famous brand. God I'm glad I did that. This charger is SUPER! The automatic feature allows you to set it upโ€ฆ

IT WORKS! - 5th year of ownership

I purchased this model from Revain in July 2012 and it has worked flawlessly in a variety of applications. I mainly use it to keep my lawn mower's battery charged all year round (this is the right way to keep the battery going for long periods of inactivity). I actually used it to start my previous car when the battery died. Most recently when I was having my 2015 Honda CRV serviced I was told that the battery was dead. When I got home I used the diagnostics (checked the alternator output, itโ€ฆ

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST CHARGERS I HAVE EVER SEEN!

This is an excellent charger. But first I only rated it one star and said in that review that it's not good at all. I contacted Schumacher tech support because the charger doesn't really charge the batteries to 100%. The charger will display 100% when charging is complete. However, if you check the battery with a conductivity tester (Solar BA9), it would show that the battery is only 88% charged. Schumacher technical support said that with all maintenance free flat top batteries you should useโ€ฆ

Fire hazard - clamps will loosen and arc - very dangerous!

To save pennies these guys used the cheapest clamps and the result is a dangerous product! I bought 2 of these 4 years ago but hardly used them as I had some old Black & Decker smart chargers which were great. I lost one of them in an accident last year and these two broke. Unlike Black & Deckers, they have cheap tin clips for attaching batteries. I went out at night and noticed that there was a red light on in the room where I charged the batteries. The light came from an arc between theโ€ฆ

Stopped working after one winter

UPDATE 9/13/16: I left this plugged in to my Corvette during the fall and winter of 2015-2016. My car sat in cold weather (below 40F) for a few months and I went to check on the car in December and the charger died - no display and won't turn on. I left it unplugged for about 20 minutes and tried again, it turned on, ran on charge mode for about 10 minutes (making sure the correct battery type and voltage was selected) and then died again. Never turn it on again this time. Throw it away andโ€ฆ
