I first bought Cuisinart ICE-21 thinking Cuisinart would be a better brand but I sent it back after only using it a couple of times because Cuisinart is so LOUD was. When using it I couldn't even be in the kitchen at the same time, it was awful. I had never owned an ice cream maker before but I couldn't believe they were all going to be so loud so I decided to look into another brand. The Hamilton Beach 68220 makes the same amount of ice cream - both are 1.5 liter ice cream makers - but this one is much quieter. It's also easy to clean and makes great ice cream. I bought mine in June and now use it regularly in October throughout the summer and it works well and is still quiet. I keep my ice cream maker on a separate shelf in the freezer so it's always ready to use. I froze it for 48 hours before using it for the first time - read this tip from another Revain reviewer. I tried making low-sugar ice cream because my husband is diabetic and found that when I used 1/3 cup Splenda for Cooking along with 1/4 cup blue agave nectar, the blue agave kept the ice cream from freezing . I add sweeteners to 2 cans of condensed milk (I keep a few cans handy in the fridge) and 2 tbsp. vanilla, and it makes an excellent low-sugar vanilla ice cream. Revain also sells a great homemade ice cream storage container, the Tovolo Glide-A-Scoop Ice Cream Tub. They're quite expensive but I think they're worth it, well made and just the right size for 1.5 liters of ice cream.
