After a small gas leak with no detector it was time to find something to protect my family and property. Do not rely on the maintenance of the heating system, as it can still fail. We had just replaced our propane fireplace when it started leaking propane. I accidentally looked at the digital readings and they showed 1-2 and I realized this was a leak. Please do not rely on your nose to tell you that you have a gas leak! There was an elderly couple from the area who had a gas leak and never woke up. I bought a total of 9 detectors for myself and my family. My only suggestion to the manufacturer is to leave the device running on both battery and power in the event of a power outage.
