Review on πŸ”§ BOSCH Drill Kit for Power Tools by David Plunkett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Be sure to turn in this tool, possibly the entire 12v platform

Update 3/21/21: Sent in for 'repair' of the chuck under Bosch warranty. It was a quick and easy process, they provided a label so I didn't have to pay for shipping anyway. Instead of repairing they chose to send a new one. Thanks for that. Victory? nope The new one has the exact same problem. Chuck will not engage and will not engage properly. Eventually, it will weaken with use. Very disappointed with this tool, especially knowing that the change has to be designed to save a dollar. It's easy to say, well, just don't buy it, but if you have a lot of other tools on the Bosch 12V platform, and even one tool is ineffective, then this is a serious problem. It's an issue that just shouldn't exist for Bosch and could be the driving force behind their sale and a complete platform change. Ashamed.------------------------------------------------ --------------My Bosch 12V collection is growing. This was added to complement my pocket screwdriver (which I love) when I need a real drill bit rather than a pocket screwdriver which I use more like a screwdriver. Typical Bosch overall build quality, never had problems with other tools. BUT I have an issue that I think lowers the rating to 2 stars. The description for the picture is "self-locking cartridge with a clicking sound". I figured it meant a ratcheting effect when tightening the cartridge, just like my old Milwaukee (which is a great feature). Mine has NO lock/ratchet chuck. In the course of the work, the bits have come loose. I'll be in touch with Bosch shortly to see if it's a warranty issue or a design change. If it is intentional, I cannot recommend this particular Bosch tool.

Pros
  • Power tools
Cons
  • Large and bulky
