Excellent vacuum cleaner for post installation cleaning.

I'm a DIY enthusiast and have been looking for a small vacuum for a while. I've always looked at 1-gallon shop vacuums, but never liked the size or the reviews. One night I typed a few blanks into the search and just kept clicking page after page after page and finally I saw this little Orek. I read the reviews and it seemed to me that this is a good little machine. I wasn't looking for a big vacuum for big cleaning. I have this and it's just a hassle to take it from my shop, load it onto a truck and take it to a customer's home. I have a Fein vacuum cleaner, quiet but big. He'll take care of the big jobs when I need it. But I need to be conscious and sure to bring it. I wanted a vacuum that can always be in the truck so I don't have to remember to pack it. The rectangular shape and small size allowed me to find a permanent place in the back of trucks, so I always had it with me. Now the main use for me is cleaning after installing cabinets and moldings. Sawdust and small shavings are produced during this work. I usually put on a tarp or some other type of floor protection, but no matter what the dust finds, it ends up on the floor or carpet. I use a vacuum cleaner during and after work to keep the workplace clean. I think the only real complaint I have is the small pocket. It's actually not that bad unless you're using a table saw because it produces quite a bit of sawdust. The bags are very inexpensive, less than 40 cents each. I usually throw out the sawdust 1 or 2 times before changing the bag for a new one just because I'm frugal. I found that you can store 2 extra bags in where the vacuum bag is on either side of the machine. It's nice not having to go to the truck when it needs to be replaced. My first major use of a vacuum was installing door and window trim and baseboards in a house that had been gutted and remodeled. All floors were solid oak and painted walnut. White shavings on a dark floor just stick out like a sore thumb. Oreck with a large floor mount will do the trick. I use the brush function on the floor nozzle to clean dark floors and it just picks everything up so well. If something is a little lapped you may have to use a back and forth motion to kick up the dust, but usually one pass in the area was enough to clean it perfectly. The round brush works well for cleaning the top of baseboards, window sills and the inside of newly installed cabinets without leaving marks or damage. I had the same problem as others with a loose belt and the vacuum cleaner falling on the floor. I used the zip tie that came with the machine and wrapped it around the belt so it couldn't pull out and solved the problem. This is definitely something Orek needs to fix. This is inappropriate. For storing the vacuum cleaner in the truck, I built a small plywood box that securely holds the vacuum cleaner and all the tools in a small space. So far I am very pleased with the vacuum cleaner.
