Review on ASUS VA249HE 1080P Monitor: Experience Crisp Visuals and Wide Viewing Angle on a 23.8" Touch Screen Display at 60Hz by Steven Sacks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent monitor for surfing the web for the price. Don't buy it because of the built-in speaker.

When someone mentioned that their iPhone has the best speakers, they were literally not kidding. When you read how bad public speakers are, you should understand that no one exaggerates. I bought this monitor just for my PS4 Slim in my office, since the PS4 Slim doesn't have an optical output, I chose a monitor with built-in speakers. This is definitely one of the worst speakers you will ever come across. Not a big deal as I often move my system to the living room on the big screen. So it wasn't a deal breaker for me. But let's talk about the good. I love how you can connect DVI and HDMI and switch between them with the push of a button. Okay, that's the only really good thing about this monitor. On the other hand, it's a bit of a shame that the monitor doesn't retain settings between inputs. Assuming you want the game mode for HDMI, well, you have to manually select the game mode each time. So yeah, it sucks. You get what you pay for, you have to put up with it. Color reproduction on this monitor is a bit annoying and obviously cheap due to the difficulty in calibrating colors to match my more expensive monitor. To be fair this is my first LED computer monitor - it seems too bright even when I turn the brightness down to 25/100. Either way, as I said, for the price this is a decent monitor. For those who want to get into art or graphic design, what are you doing while looking at this monitor, sorry baby, you have to shell out more money for that. Anyone who just wants to surf the web or play games on their HDMI console (but not use the onboard audio) has come to the right place.
