Review on Spectraflex Braided Speaker Cable Green by Johnny Pigao

Revainrating 1 out of 5

It is great. If you want to listen to the radio

So I was looking for a new guitar cable because I wanted something better than a generic Chinese made cable to power my guitars. I wanted something cheap considering I'm on a very tight budget (so I'd buy cables that don't hold together properly) and lo and behold I found the Spectraflex. I've read as many reviews on here as I can and even went to their website to see what the US made cable is. I finally decided to buy it even though I didn't need it and had already had bad experiences with another unbranded braided cable and damn it was a mistake. As soon as I connected it to my distortion pedal, I started getting extremely loud radio signals from the local radio station. So I separated it from my distortion pedal and tried to only use it in my Digitech Jam Man Solo. Same problem. I tried plugging it into my mic preamp and it squeaked so loud it hurt my ears and could probably be heard in part of my apartment building. Needless to say, it was quickly disconnected and replaced with my old cable. What's even more frustrating is that the build quality seems to be pretty good and as mentioned, it's made in the USA. The Spectraflex has been around for decades and is said to be used by many famous musicians. The fact that the sound quality is worse than a cheap $5 cable from another brand is just ridiculous. It might just have been a bad first experience but I will get it back asap and hopefully never be as disappointed with an instrument cable as I am with this one again. Take my advice and stay away from this product; You need the guarantee that this company advertises.
