Review on πŸ”Š Yamaha WXA-50 MusicCast Wireless Amplifier for Streaming by Brittany Jackson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great sound with some flaws

I bought this amp to drive some bookshelf speakers. I was a bit skeptical as I'm used to class A/B amps but the power rating seems to be accurate and made my speakers sound a lot louder than I want to hear. The sound is great, no hissing, pops etc. And a little more bass than I expected. My frustration is with some of the more advanced features like Bluetooth, which rarely seems to whiz, and the wifi sound is useless for my personal preferences. While the build quality of the block itself is high quality and solid, that's where it ends. The buttons are so firm that the entire unit moves when pressed, while the volume knob feels very cheap and feels off-center when rotated, causing it to wobble in use. Finally, the remote control is a shoddy joke - tiny, with a plastic sheet covering the buttons, and generally disappointing. While I think the device has great packaging and sound and would recommend it to others with a variety of uses, personally I would replace it with something else.
