Review on Rifny Aquarium Air Pump Kit with Adjustable Dual Outlet Air Valve - Fish Tank Oxygen Pump for 1-80 Gallon Tanks, Including Air Stones, Silicone Tubes, and Check Valves by Katie Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Large jumps between (4) pressure settings and quite loud

Quiet only at the lowest level. I don't like how big the air pressure jumps between settings. There are only four air pressure settings and the difference between the first and second (which I've used) is huge and I really want something in between. If you leave the dial between the two settings (the settings are disabled, so this isn't difficult), it will toggle back and forth between the two settings from time to time, which is easy. I think it looks kinda weird. Also, the air pump is fine. This is a normal, ordinary air pump. I have another one that costs about the same from a different brand and they all seem basically the same to me. Maybe very expensive is better, but I'm not too dissatisfied with the fact that the cost is even remotely worth it. It's cheap and works with my sponge filters, so that's enough for me. Update: If you're only using one air vent, taping the other will make the entire pump MUCH quieter. I also had to switch to the third power setting to get the correct air pressure for a 1 foot deep 10 gallon betta tank. So this pump is probably going to be crap for a 20 gallon big / 29 gallon or something. I bought another cheap pump from the Aquarium Co-op website that holds 50 gallons and used it on my 20 lengths. This pump provides the appropriate pressure for the configuration when left on the lowest setting and is quieter than this Rifny pump set for my 10 gallon. Both reservoirs are about the same depth. The pumps also cost almost the same, but Aquarium Co-op's pump doesn't come with air hoses, check valves or air stones (although I don't use air stones in this set because they are of minimal quality). I also use Aquarium Co-op's airstones which never clog and produce very small bubbles).

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Ok for the most part, but...
