Review on πŸ”‘ Dorman 99140 Keyless Entry Transmitter for Toyota Models with Enhanced OE Functionality by Justin Garrett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Tough at first but works great now

***Update*** Received second programmer from Revain. It also didn't work on my 2011 Tacoma PreRunner. I contacted Dormann tech support directly, they said it should work and asked for the VIN of the truck. In just a few minutes they emailed me a manual programming procedure that did not require the programming plug-in included in the kit. The process involved inserting and removing the key and opening and closing the door. The manual procedure took about 3 minutes and now my Dorman FOB is running great. I'm surprised the manual method worked, although I've read online that it doesn't work with Tacoma 2011 and later. The new Dorman FOB has a much longer range than the original Toyota FOB. The Dorman FOB appears to be made out of quality plastic, with better buttons and more secure snaps. Dorman Technical Support was very responsive and replied to my email within minutes. I am very happy with my new FOB. I am changing my rating to 4 stars! I received the programmer and key fob from Revain on time. I plugged the programmer into the Tacoma OBD II connector according to the instructions. The programmer looks completely dead, the LEDs don't light up, there shouldn't be a beep as the instructions say. Confirmed it is the correct model number and fits my 2011 Tacoma. Revain came back defective and requested another block. Let's see what happens when the replacement comes. I will update the review when a replacement arrives.
