UPDATE! 3 stars to 1 star. The device stopped working a year after its use. The compressor just died. If I ran it a lot I might not get too worked up about it, but I would only run it for a few hours each day on summer days, and sometimes just a fan. Also, at some point before that, the compressor was shaky, causing a loud rumble (louder than the AC itself is running). I had to put a chair in front of the air conditioner to prevent this. Once he made a strong clanking noise, and now he just won't cool down. ================================================== ================================================== ================================================== ======================================= My room is about 15 x 15 and I live in Southern California. Pros: - Never had to worry about draining. Keep in mind that I live in a low humidity area. So if you live in an area with high humidity, your experience may be different. - Cools adequately with advertised BTUs, although it's important to remember that this is a portable air conditioner. It cools well compared to other portable air conditioners, but cools very poorly compared to 11,000 BTU window units. If you compare it to window units, it cools as well as an 8000 BTU air conditioner. Easy setup. It took every 15 minutes. Cons: - At this size and weighing 60 pounds, this isn't the most "portable" product. On the other hand, all portable air conditioners seem to be designed that way. It doesn't allow the flexibility to direct the fans in a specific direction. Simple omissions like this really bother me as they wouldn't take long to add to the design, but it would add a lot to the product. Neutral: - The product is noisy. I personally prefer it that way because I use it to reduce outside noise, but some people may object. Overall the product has about 4 stars, but I deducted a star because it is advertised as 11,000 BTU but cools closer to 8000 BTU. I don't know why portable air conditioner manufacturers feel the need to increase the cooling capacity.
