Me and my three chihuahuas come to our cabin for 5 hours every couple of weeks. I've always worried that some of them will try to jump out of the car when I stop for gas or when I take them out of the car to rest on the way. They were always good dogs, they stayed in the back seat, but I really wanted an extra guarantee that they would stay. On one of my last rides I had to hit the brakes and my little boys got blown out of my back and that was the last straw - I couldn't let anything happen to them. I looked at both types of restraints - over the headrest and with a clip in the seatbelt clip - and went with them because I can also use them as a leash when we do our 'pit stop'. I'm very happy with how they perform, although I still find the right setting for them so they can lay flat without getting in the way. I think it's more about how the dogs fit into their beds (yes I stretched out 3 dog beds for them in the back seat) - and that's another reason these restraint systems work well - they don't require me to use the Slide beds around to fit into seat belt clip.
