Review on TAVOLOZZA 300 GSM 7" Diameter 24 Sheet Watercolor Paper Pad - Glue Bound, Cold Pressed, Acid-Free With 1 Letter Opener For Wet & Dry Media by Rick Rownd

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good choice for the price

This Tavolozza art journal came as a 2-book set. I’m being nit picky about the number of sheets because I don’t like false advertising. There are 38 sheets (76 pages) in each book for painting, not 40 sheets (80 pages) as claimed. The extra 2 sheets are not part of the paintable surface pages. They are part of the leaflet that is glued to the inside part of the cover and are not watercolor quality at all. Having said that, the quality of the watercolor pages themselves are good enough for painting light watercolor washes. It doesn’t mention anything about cotton rag content, but it must have some cotton content because even if the paper is only 110 lb (230 gsm), it holds up well. I started a landscape with a light wash for the sky and so far, no buckling. Compared to Moleskin brand (same paper weight/gsm) which buckled with washes, I’m more impressed with this brand. For its price, ($16.69 +tax for TWO books) I would have given this a "5” but for the misleading number of sheets, ergo the "4.”

Pros
  • The TAVOLOZZA watercolor paper pad is made of superior quality, 300 GSM paper, ensuring durability and longevity of artwork
Cons
  • The paper may not be as durable as other watercolor paper options
