Same basic design but now with a much larger light window and several times lighter than the original models. Plus, it comes with a 'bright white' bulb so you can actually read with it, and it turns off into total darkness without overheating if you wish. The only negative is that the pull switch fell apart as soon as I started using the lamp. It was a cheap Chinese thing, way inferior to the rest of the lamp. There's nothing wrong with switches made in China, but I know there are much better ones available for a little more. It's always been a great product, but with new improvements it's even better!
