This product is ideal for minimal maintenance and protecting your steering system. My steering cable caught at the point where I had to use my body weight to turn the boat. It turned out that my tilt tube was completely corroded. On my Yamaha 60 there is no way to lubricate the inside of the tilt tube without removing it. I ended up replacing the tilt tube ($100) and was afraid it would corrode too. This product was my solution to prevent this. Very easy installation with only 2 cable ties on each end. After 20 boat trips, everything is still securely fastened. Fill this trunk with marine lube and every time you turn the boat you effectively lubricate the steering cable. This product protects the cable from rain, water and UV rays. So there is no need to cover it up. I would recommend this product to anyone who has an open wire. You can't go wrong with the price and it will save you hours in the long run.
