Review on πŸ”Š Flowmaster 52557 Super 50 Muffler - 2.50 Center Inlet / 2.50 Offset Outlet - Moderate Sound, Black by Elmito Yeager

Much louder than expected.

Well I bought this for my 2000 v6 4runner. Hoping to soften my other muffler. Based on the information I found and other reviews I read, listened to sound clips etc, this muffler is quiet. Well boy they're wrong! This sucker is LOUD! Although it's a bass tone, which is normal, it's a lot louder than I expected. It's also heavy like anything, so install it right! Body sweating is ok, not the best at all and honestly should be improved at the expense of cost, Flowmaster. Remember, this is a single-chamber silencer. So if you have heat-sensitive objects around the muffler, it could be damaged. This muffler has NO thermal protection and it gets very hot (in my case) and burns the black paint it was painted with. I've welded tons of aluminized steel, the steel reacted strangely in the Flowmaster, but the welds came out fine. It's louder when the engine/exhaust is cold (somewhat normal for glass frosted mufflers), but chambered mufflers shouldn't change in tone. Long review I know, unfortunately this is my first and last Flowmaster silencer. I'll try the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler.
