I tried several alternatives including old masking tape to make stencils for wood painting. Last thing I used was another brand that was $2 cheaper for the same amount of material - the other material was totally opaque (which is not good when trying to make color blocking stencils) and pulled out some wood fibers, when I tried to remove his. Oramask is definitely worth the extra $2. It's not 100% transparent, but it's transparent enough to see any drawings it's overlaying. It adheres enough to prevent paint or stains from running underneath, but it does not remove existing wood fibers or paint or leave a residue. Produces very sharp color lines. I highly recommend it. I can't show full images of my projects, but the attached photos show how well this film works.
