Review on Koss KSC75X On-Ear Headphones With In-Line Mic - Midnight Blue | Massdrop Exclusive by Black Holstead

Good but uncomfortable and smelly

I've had a few KSC75s since 2013, they were all consistently comfy, some were a bit loose but never uncomfortable. This new version has a tighter grip/clamp on the clips and the materials feel cheaper, it also smells, similar to cheapo hard plastic cellphone cases (never had this issue with previous versions.)The mic placement is not the best either, compared to the mic on the KPH30is, it's way too low which makes this "feature" useless.Sound it's OK, it's bright neutral just like the original. Good for classical, jazz and acoustic, other than those genres you're better off with a porta-pro with yaxi pads or a KPH30i, otherwise it's just too lean sounding.Overall, I'd stick with the regular version, other than the color, I don't see an improvement.

Pros
  • Highly portable and comfortable for all-day use
Cons
  • The headphones are not foldable
