Review on ๐ŸŠ Gator Parts YFM660 Carburetor for Yamaha Grizzly YFM660 2002-2008 by Joseph Mannasseh

Cheaper than a repair kit, great value

Fit this carburetor on my 2003 Yamaha 660 Grizzly. Along with the old Mikuni, this Chinese copy actually had a better cast finish. Some of the internals aren't that reliable, but you really need to take a closer look. New Mikunis cost between $300 and $500. I don't ride my ATV as much as I used to, so the seat is taking its toll. This is the second aftermarket carburetor I have installed on the car. The first served 7 years with breaks for several months at a time. To be perfectly honest, the old one is still good. I had a problem with freezing at idle. A simple cleaning and gasket kit would probably fix it. The problem is that it was too hot and I was too lazy to do it. It was cheaper and a lot easier to just take the old one off, put this one on and I drove again. The grizzly immediately caught fire. Adjusted to idle and went jerking through the countryside. Installation went smoothly, this carb fits the Grizzly. I might eventually install the oversized pilot jet that came with it, as I noticed slight glitches when transitioning from part to full throttle. It's not bad, but it's there. Keep in mind that this is with no settings other than idle right out of the box. Bottom line, it's an inexpensive and quick way to get your car running again. If this one dies in another 7 years I will rip it off and put another one on.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
