Review on 🐠 Sera Flore Active CO2 Reactor 1000 – Ideal for Aquariums Over 160 Gallons by Melissa Warren

Mod required to use with 306

I found I needed a "Fluval Rubber Ribbed Hose Adapter" to make a solid connection between my 306/406 hose and the reactor. A lot of people use rubber hoses, but if you want to use the original Fluval hose that came with your Fluval filter I would say you need these rubber adapters. I found that without an adapter I can't tighten the hose enough. Luckily I had some of these adapters on hand. Another thing is that I used food grade silicone grease to push my CO2 hose to the reactor. I've read that people cook their tubing with carbon dioxide to soften the end, but I didn't want to take my tubing off, but the lube worked fine. As other people have said, I think a razor could be used to remove the CO2 tube rather than the typical wiggle and tug that would likely break the CO2 flange. In operation, the reactor is very quiet, not as noisy as my Fluval 306, and I don't see any bubbles exiting at all. This reactor should not need to be cleaned as often as a diffuser. CO2 diffusers need to be cleaned regularly. Usually the diffuser manual suggests having two of these so you can clean/soak one while the other is running. I usually just forget and the efficiency of my diffuser just keeps getting worse. This reactor is a little tricky to install, but once installed you won't notice the inevitable drop in efficiency. I am very happy.
