Ok, now I have a stable connection with good speed. I almost reached the declared speed of 250 Mbps (see photo). It worked right out of the box and Windows 10 64-bit took over. I installed the driver from the TP-Link support site, but there doesn't seem to be much difference between it and the driver selected by Windows. Now I really started having issues 20 minutes after connecting, disconnecting and refusing to reconnect on the 5G band, even after shutting down and restarting. This seems to be a common problem with them, but I can't fault the adapter at this point. You must disable ALL power management features for your USB ports, or at least the one that TP-Link is connected to, including "USB Selective Suspend" in the power management settings in Control Panel, and disable "Allow Windows". to disable to save power" (or something like that) in Device Manager, you need to disable this option in the properties of both the TP-Link adapter and the USB root hubs under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". The USB root hub properties are important as they even replace the disabled "Selective Suspend” option. It seems to have worked and is working great now. It seems that when Windows stops the adapter it won't turn on properly and turned it into a mess 10/16/16 - Update Became a non-working unstable constantly disconnecting mess after the last major windows 10 update was unrecoverable after the hassle I already went through just to get it stable and keep it connected, not again, I don't have time for that TP Link needs to fix its hardware to at least get Windows not to sleep it and make it more resilient gen to be windows updates. I have used wireless USB adapters in the past and have never encountered such nonsense.
