Review on πŸ”§ 10-Pack of Heavy Duty Shelf L Brackets - HOME MASTER HARDWARE 12"x8" Shelf Support Corner Brace Joint, Right Angle Bracket in Black with Screws by Jesus Olsen

Great braces at a great price!

Conclusion: Pre-drill the holes and get a drill extension and you'll be spot on. I've wanted a library nook in our living room for a long time, but even with the cost of the cheapest MDF shelving it's going to be expensive. Not to mention that MDF doesn't last long on some of our heaviest books. These brackets made the cost of a DIY project more manageable (and the quality made our shelves sturdier than anything we could buy). We took pine boards 1 by 12 by 6 feet and painted them. We used three brackets per shelf, probably overkill, but it works well with the way the boards line up with the posts. The hardware that came with the brackets was perfect for both boards and wall studs. We pre-drilled holes in the wall and used an extension cord on a drill press. This made navigating the support mounts easier. The pine was soft enough that we didn't have to pre-drill the shelves. The brackets are about half an inch longer so the boards will tear away from the wall leaving a gap. This actually turned out to be ideal so that we can put the lamp on the shelves and run the cable behind it. In general, we are not only impressed by the quality of the braces, but also by the look. We will definitely be buying more brackets to install shelves around the house.
