Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Security for your Gear: Thule Passive Lock Strap by Charles Mistretta

Simple (medium-heavy) bike rack protection without trailer hitch

, I needed a solution to fit a different manufacturer's bike rack to my Jeep to replace a similar manufacturer's item that had been damaged in an accident (I skidded in the rear with the rack installed, but not with my bike). ). This cable provides a level of security that deters thieves from cutting through the rack straps and stealing the whole thing, presumably with a bike attached to it. So the trunk is attached to the jeep and my bike is bolted to the rack which offers moderate security in low risk areas and situations. This product is simple like no other - a nylon-wrapped steel cable that runs through a closed liftgate, through the door seal, and has a protruding end that is too large to fit through the seal cavity. Of course I wouldn't leave a bike unattended on a rack in high-risk conditions, overnight or for any length of time, but I'm somewhat flexible now when traveling alone. Pictured is an old strap (I don't have a new one yet) while visiting Flagler Beach, Florida. The strap is highlighted with a purple ellipse.
