I have a Gajillion monitors spread over a wide area that use 1080P (1920 x 1080, 30Hz). I use a lot of KVM over RJ45 extenders (uncompressed), Raspberry PI with VGA for network and just old PCs. That means I have a hodgepodge of DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA, while modern budget displays are HDMI and that's it. Rather than replacing some expensive hardware to pair with new displays, this is an inexpensive workaround with great results. Most modern displays also have at least one USB port, so I can use USB-A to 2.1mm male cables. to power this device. The device uses 5VDC at 500mA so there's no need to use the included chunky power adapter if I have this USB cable (not included with this device - it's a separate purchase). Plug directly into a video device's VGA port, but male-grade devices are probably too bulky to fit behind the device. It connects to a VGA cable, then I just plug this device into the back of the display and use short HDMI and USB cables to complete the installation. If I need to increase the distance between the device and the display, that's not a bad way.
