I've tested them on different lens thicknesses and they definitely work. On some glasses, it first makes a hole and then gives a better tear with subsequent hits. I don't want to lose my car window to check, but it's strong enough to take out even thick bottle glass, so I think it will work in an emergency. You don't have to press too hard to activate the kick, so this is a pretty good option. Definitely good to have access in case of an accident.
