Review on 🐦 Bird Feeder Seed Catcher Tray Hanging Cup Food Dish for Cage - Ideal for Small Birds like Lovebirds, Cockatiels, Canaries, Sun Conures by Lindsey Baker

I love this feeder. Good quality.

I had three budgies and don't you know they are two females and one male. I never thought female budgies could be so territorial. So I got two of these (a feeder worth over $50 πŸ™„). I attached them together using one of the hooks to go through both feeders and glued the two boxes together. The best feeder - the best feeders. There is no food down in the cage. To ensure that none of my budgies ended up like the other reviewer's bird, with its poor neck under the wooden dowel in the feeder, I removed all four screws holding the two small dowels. The perch is already supported by semicircular supports, so that's enough. Maybe not enough for curious kennels or parrots: you'll find these dowels at the bottom of the cage. My removable dowels also make cleaning easier. Another benefit is that even if the birds are resting in the feeder (remember territorial?) facing away from the feed, their drop zone is not over the feed. To answer other reviewers concerns about hooks slipping out easily. The ends of the hooks (the part that goes into the plastic) are not round. They're supposed to prevent that. If you insert them in a horizontal position and then flip them up to use, they won't come out. If you don't read this part of the paper instructions, you may be tempted to force them in, which will enlarge the hook holes and allow those hooks to slip out. This suggestion may be useful: I bought a handheld vacuum to use only for cleaning the cage. I drain it every day and every 3-4 days I wash the filter in soapy water to clean it and then air dry it. I use this vacuum to remove empty seed coats from their feed. I keep the vacuum about 1-2 inches away from the food that is still in the feeder. This creates enough suction to pick up empty seeds. That's great. For those of us with OCD, this is also very rewarding. Once a week I dispose of the leftovers, carefully clean the feeding troughs and fill them with fresh seed. Or two. You will not regret it.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
