It's not worth the risk for us

We didn't stop at this pop-up socket. The instructions state that the cable coming out from the bottom should have a perfectly straight descent. The cord in the one we received had a slight kink, probably because it was rolled up for shipping, and when we tried to slide the tower back into its closed position, it got tangled up in the cord every time. In the lower part of the outer case there is a grommet with a thin oval shape. That's where the cable goes when the tower collapses. I think if you remove that jack or enlarge the hole the cable won't be a problem. But we weren't willing to take the risk of cutting a 4.5" hole in our beautiful stone countertops unless we were confident it would work perfectly every time.
