Switches aren't bad in principle, although I haven't used them for a long time. My complaint is that since they are round (which is why I bought them) the indexing lug is important to keep them from rotating in the mount. However, the indexing slots on them end just short of the bezel, so they rotated fully on the 1/16 inch thick aluminum plate I installed. I'd say using it on something thicker than 1/8" might work (although the index barely grabs at 1/8), but certainly not on anything thinner.
