Review on πŸ“Ή Panasonic 14-140mm f/4.0-5.8 OIS Video Optimized Micro Four Thirds Lens: Perfect for Panasonic DSLR Cameras by Briceston Criss

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Limited offer.

Panasonic do have a newer model which is a bit faster, with better optical stabilization and powerful zoom, but having just returned from a trip to Costa Rica where I was constantly playing around with lenses I switched back and forth thinking a larger zoom range would reduce that effort. As I was in the process of upgrading my camera, I was on a budget and it was a cheap lens purchase. Image stabilization wasn't that important as my new Olympus has excellent body stabilization and the price was irresistibly lower than alternatives. F5.8 vs F5.6 doesn't matter but I think I will miss the remote zoom feature. The lens proved surprisingly good, delivering the same good quality as the kit lenses without the need for a swap. Now my wife will have my slightly older M43 body with kit lenses (she will probably never switch from 14-42) and I will just switch lenses to use one of my primes. Note that it has the same FOV as a 28-280 on a 35mm body, and with the M43 resolution I can easily crop to get another 100mm equivalent if I'm not larger than 8x 10 prints. If only I could afford a new Olympus 7-14 Pro lens.

Could this lens do away with the need for other lenses?
