Description of 📹 Panasonic 14-140mm f/4.0-5.8 OIS Video Optimized Micro Four Thirds Lens: Perfect for Panasonic DSLR Cameras

Circular aperture diaphragm, durable metal mounting and multi-coated lens elements. Based on the Micro Four Thirds System standard. The new lens system uses four aspherical lenses and two ED lenses to achieve dramatic downsizing despite its powerful 10x optical zoom. The filter size is 62mm. Panasonic's Mega O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) suppresses the blurring that is commonly caused by hand-shake. The new lens allows use of the advanced contrast AF system.

Great all round zoom lens

When you want to get great shots but don't want to carry around a whole set of lenses, this lens is a great addition to your running and shooting light kit. Staging or just go shooting for fun. The image stabilization feature is great, but can be a bit unsteady when shooting handheld. Recommend a shoulder mount or other stabilizer to keep your footage smooth.

Brilliant with point-and-click Amateur

I'm a point-and-click photographer and I leave all settings fully automatic. I swapped out the one that came with my G7 for this one and now I have the best of all worlds. The results are nothing short of stunning, close-ups are just as amazing, and the zoom offers me the same as the previous pocket camera's Ax 10. In fact, when not in use it is very compact and not too heavy than the previous one.

Pros
  • Best in class

  • Almost never

One for two!: Camera and photo

A clear, bright and powerful lens. I use it on my GH4 as this 14-140mm lens replaces two other Panasonic lenses which together make up the total focal length of this lens. I will mainly be using it for video recording but can't wait to test it for photography too. So far the results have been excellent. Good depth of field and smooth action followed by focus. It also has very good image stabilization. I've attached a test sequence I filmed with a lens to test my claims. Get a good copy of this…

  • Easy to use

Good general purpose zoom lens for micro 4/3 cameras

This is a great lens for outdoors and indoors in good light. It's incredibly sharp and offers a wide focal length range from 14mm to 140mm. If you're used to full-frame cameras or 35mm film cameras, double those numbers for an accurate representation of actual performance. Plus, you can double the focal length to 280mm for lossless video work, meaning you get the equivalent of a 560mm lens when shooting 1080i video. The only downside is that the lens is too slow in the f4 to f5.6 range for…

Very comfortable for lenses

This lens quickly became one of my favorites! I find the range to be excellent for most general purpose settings, sports, high school games and pretty much everything so far. I haven't used it for landscape photography or outdoor work, but I doubt I'll be disappointed. It works well with light. I did it right there with my Lumix G 35-100HD. It's used on both my GH3 and G6, I haven't had any responsiveness issues, autofocus and OIS work well. Haven't used this lens in manual focus yet, not…

Can this lens make other lenses obsolete?

I'm giving this lens 4 stars mainly because I haven't had time to do direct comparisons. My overall impression is that the lens is much sharper than the 14-42mm that came with the camera. I see us wearing that lens alone, without the other lens. I also have a 45-200mm lens. Combining the two would essentially give us a 14.3x zoom instead of around 10x at 14-140. Is it worth packing an extra lens for an extra 4.3% zoom when that zoom doesn't typically produce the best handheld shots? The lens is

Limited offer.

Panasonic do have a newer model which is a bit faster, with better optical stabilization and powerful zoom, but having just returned from a trip to Costa Rica where I was constantly playing around with lenses I switched back and forth thinking a larger zoom range would reduce that effort. As I was in the process of upgrading my camera, I was on a budget and it was a cheap lens purchase. Image stabilization wasn't that important as my new Olympus has excellent body stabilization and the price…

Weight and sticky zoom ring takes a star off a great lens

Good news - amazing image quality and lens versatility gets ten stars. The not so good news is that this lens is heavy. I mean really heavy - by far the heaviest of the many lenses I build for my GM1. You definitely have to hold on. This isn't a problem in itself - the zoom ring moves mass in what feels like smooth operation. When I pair this with my featherweight GM1, I find myself grabbing the camera like a monkey and accidentally hitting the menu buttons. I would never consider using this…

True, Panasonic has a newer model that is slightly faster, has better optical image stabilization and a powerful zoom, but having just returned from a trip to Costa Rica, While I was constantly fiddling with switching lenses, I figured that a longer range zoom would reduce that hassle. Great Travel Lens - Super Convenient - Reliable Performance

Personally, I tend towards fast lenses and normally don't choose such a fast lens. I also try to stay away from wide-angle zoom lenses. Because . Spring . for obvious reasons. They just don't work as well as shorter range zooms and certainly have nothing to do with fixed lenses. BUT . I bought a GH2 and bought a camera for convenience. It was a camera to take with me when I traveled, where i would like to take a quality camera with me, and that's it. So it made sense to look for it in…

  • The new lens system uses four aspherical lenses and two ED glass lenses to achieve a significant reduction in size despite the powerful 10x optical zoom. Filter size 62mm.
