I needed a lens in this range. After analyzing the reviews, I went to choose between a sigma 70-300 with a stub (I have a staff member sigma 17-70? I know all the sores) and tamron 70-300 with a stub. They were not in one place, this canon looked. After it I went to watch Sigma - I liked the materials, the zoom moves smoothly, but the autofocus is slow and noisy, although ultrasonic, Tamron did not look. Returned for canon. I also bought a used hood with a "suede" coating inside. Liked the results. About the fact that he lathers at 300 did not notice. These lenses are for the street, and if it lathers, then in poor lighting. With such aperture, it is impossible to demand something supernatural from him. The stub is very good. + data from the lens can be written into the carcass using EOS Utility (I have 60d), and you can set the parameters for editing RAW directly in the carcass, which is not available for third-party lenses - a trifle, but nice.
