This cover only protects the top of the mattress; The waterproof lining does not slide down the sides. The padded portion is about 1 inch too small to fully cover the top of the mattress, leaving the corners slightly exposed. The elastic sides fit our 15 inch mattress by a few inches. We bought ours to try and cover up the smell of the latex pad, which seems to be the case. I haven't checked. Impregnation - seems very thin, but I can not judge the effectiveness. No rustling noises. The "quilting" is basically nothing more than a pattern and does not add any extra comfort/softness to the bed. I'm so pleased less latex smell but the way it leaves the edges of the mattress exposed makes it feel cheap.
