I used to have one of these to block the old spiral staircase in the house I'm climbing into. It was removed as we got older but now I have a curious 3 year old, I don't want to climb stairs. that I fell even in adulthood. Doesn't scare animals away, but I didn't need it for that. Watch your little fingers when opening and closing. He's pinching!
