Pleasantly surprised

This is one of those toys you see on Revain that you question the quality of, but that you want to take a chance on, which I did and was pleasantly surprised. I cook a great deal and my kids love to mimic my knife skills with their play food, which is why I thought this would be such a great gift. The fruit pieces are well constructed and don't seem to be falling apart yet, with almost daily use from a 5 and 2 year old, and the colors aren't chipping or scratching off easily either. The Velcro seems to be holding up despite their heavy use with it, and since there's 2 of them I appreciate that there are 2 fake knives (also not sharp, for those of you worried about that.) and 2 plastic cutting boards. And I also like the large variety of foods; we had a conversation about what dragon fruit was and what does it taste like and did it come from a dragon (no friends, just so we're clear), which I like because dragon fruit isn't something we typically (ever) eat, so seeing their curiosity about it and answering their questions makes my view of the toy even better. Some of them may not be. entirely correct? in the way that they're cut (I mean who is cutting a crab in half. maybe it's a soft-shell?), but eh my toddlers aren't concerned, nor are they michelin star chefs. I wish it had come in a food-basket or something more durable than the clear back-pack for storage purposes (the zipper-pull on the backpack has broken and I had to macgyver it with a paper-clip.), because I'm betting that will rip given time and their tendencies to shove the food back into it. but that's a minor thing I can live with. Overall I actually love this and they love it more than I had expected, so win win.

Pros
  • Durable and long-lasting
Cons
  • Lacks creativity and imagination
