Mech. The drill requires more force than my 1 year old has just an index finger. The hammer and wrench are fine, but they're not color-coded and the bolts and screws aren't interchangeable. The small picture cards were lost very quickly. In fact, not all tools fit in a toolbox. The volume is too high. The lid has a double hinge, so closing the box is a bit more difficult than a single-hinged lid. We got this for my almost 2 year old son for Christmas - he is quite advanced and easy to play with a similar toy from Fisher Price. Although it's not that funny. I'd say it's more suitable for a bigger child, but my four year old doesn't like it that much either. It can be easily improved: 1. Make bolts, nails and screws interchangeable so kids don't have to keep track of every single piece of tool box to play with. 2. Make sure all the tools fit in the box.3. Story cards are a waste of time. More screws would be much more fun.4. Make the tool box easy to close so kids don't have to call mom or dad every time they want to move their tool box to another room (that's part of the fun of having a tool box from the start!).
