Suitable for tenderizing some meats. You have to decide how many shots and how hard, but that's all you have to learn. I gave it 3 stars only because of its basic design. Pretty much everything is ok, good balance, good durability, good cleaning finish. What I didn't like was that the construction of the hammer head consists of 3 parts. The center stick of the head is firmly attached to the handle. No 3-part head prevents 100% cleaning potential. The 2 joints in the head are micro-seams that small insects (germs) can crawl into and no matter what, there's really no guarantee you'll get them all out no matter how much you wash. And there is also a connection of the head pressed against the handle. more worries. I keep using it because it works well, but lots of soap and lots of hot water make me wonder if "they" are really gone.
