I've always looked at the CCKL version of this tool but didn't want to spend what they want for it (a well known metal fabricator) which is several times more than a regular tool costs. So I ordered the General, thinking I might get it back if it turned out to be useless. To my surprise, it's at least as good as the CCKL tool, if not better. When viewed through a magnifying glass, the inch markings appear to be laser engraved on the handles. The grades on the plate appear to be printed, although I don't feel any protruding ink, so I'm not sure. In any case, the pointer arm moving across the grade plate is still not touching it, so wear and tear is unlikely to be an issue. .It's worth it as the more expensive alternative!
