Amplifier First Impressions

Why Did I Buy This? There was only one review from the guy with the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 with a dead amp. And so it happened to me that Klipsch Promedia 2.1 with a dead amp. I had a really scratchy/distorted left channel that I couldn't fix. So I gutted my subwoofer, replaced the rotten original woofer with a $5 replacement from Parts Direct dot com, plugged all the holes with hot glue and hooked it up. everything in front of this mini amp. The included power supply gives you 72W, but you can boost it even more by upgrading the power supply. The accessories work, Bluetooth works and the sound is good (if a bit flat and digital). As far as I can tell, the bass volume buttons only affect what's connected to the subwoofer output. I unplugged my subwoofer to see if I could still control the bass volume only on the Klipsch satellites, but that had no effect. This unit does not have subwoofer crossover controls, so it decides for you where the subwoofer should work for the L/R channels. . Finally, the play/pause button doesn't pause playback via the AUX input, it just mutes the system; Your source will continue to work. Not sure if playback pauses when using bluetooth (I should probably check that). The numbers are bright. Bright indeed. The volume ranges from 0 to 31. If you have an optional cable connected, Bluetooth is disabled. You cannot switch to Bluetooth unless you disconnect the accessory cable. It gets very loud when the power supply is switched on. After a few preliminary tests, my ears hurt. The Klipsch were too good to let go and could probably work even better with a higher end amp with more controls. But at some point you have to call it good enough. Audiophiles will already own the best equipment. For anyone with the same setup as me, this is an inexpensive solution to keep your really good PC system speakers working.
