Featuring photographs by her husband Vernon Ezell and a foreword by Carol Duvall, Donna Kato's new book covers a wide range of techniques and styles. Kato's work defies categorization and includes nostalgic pieces, contemporary pieces, whimsical items, Asian-inspired pieces, and even sculpture. Her versatility is amazing. Her teaching skills are remarkable and through the many photos we see her impeccable skills in action. I was particularly intrigued by their brocade technique and the watercolor beads made with alcohol based ink and a handwritten type stamp. Kato always breaks new ground and offers us a collection of stylish, artistic and creative techniques. She carefully explains each of them as well as the reasons why she chose the materials she used. It also includes work by other artists, making this book both comprehensive and extremely useful. It doesn't get any better!
