My father, a WWII veteran, was interviewed by Hometown Heroes Radio so I have a recording of his voice so I can still hear it even though he died in 2017. a recording of my mother telling our family story so it won't be lost in the future + I will still have a recording of her voice to listen to after she is gone because I think when our loved one dies, Can we make us forget what they sound like? I wish I would have done this with my grandparents when they were still here. Of course I cry when I hear my father's voice, but at the same time it's comforting. I think that's a good idea for everyone. I don't have a smartphone so I bought a recorder to use these cassettes for recording, maybe old fashioned technology but it still works!
