We use chalk markers all the time in our chalk studio. I checked out our last box of them from another company on Revain and decided to give them a try since they were in business. After each vigorous shaking of the product, the pigment will not come out immediately. It becomes watery, and then a colored jet in the form of a drop. Now it's not how I press the tip, it's how I actually write. There is a problem with the spring flow. If you can get them for kids to play around with and they're on sale, go for it.
