'01 Big Bear: Motorcycle & Powersports

I haven't ridden my '01 Yamaha Big Bear 400 in a few years and the carb cleaner didn't help so I started looking for a new carburetor and rebuild it. kits. When I saw these $40 carbs at Revain I was skeptical but they had great reviews so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. Many of the negative reviews included phrases like "garbage" or "don't buy". I'm actually going to explain why the carburetor didn't work for me. I also replaced the faucet so I removed the tank to make things easier. With the tank removed, replacing the carburetor was easy. I put the tank on the frame, reconnected the fuel line, installed the choke and it fired right up. It idled fine but wouldn't accept gas so I started adjusting the air/fuel mixture. My standard carburetor was set at 1.5 turns where I started. I had to back out the adjustment screw 4.5 turns for it to work decently. The problem was that when the engine was about halfway through, the prop would come loose and actually fall out. After three fights with this one I just pulled out the carburetor and took some parts from it for the original one. I cleaned the original, used the o-rings and seals from the new one, put it back on and it works great so not a total loss. I read some reviews about the planes not being the right size but that wasn't my problem. I just think mine wasn't handled properly.
