My old broom is made of wood and steel and is too big and heavy for my needs. I use a lithium powered cordless blower to sweep most of my patio, driveway and sidewalk. But I still need a broom to move the piles of leaves and sweep up the remaining small particles. That's where this brush comes in. It's plastic, but very well made. It's durable and lightweight, which is a big plus. I had an old metal pin with the right thread. The head of the brush is threaded like a paint stick. It works well. The bristles aren't too long so they probably won't deform much if left standing. My old one had long bristles that sagged and bent, making using an already clumsy heavy broom awkward. The light weight of this device makes it easy to move it in any direction. The brush head is large for a metal garden shovel and easily sweeps up dirt. The plastic head means it won't soak up water or tear in hot summer weather. It costs a little more than Home Depot's budget wood offerings, which start at around $7, but this one is lighter, wider, and stronger. This also makes sweeping much easier. I am very happy with it.
