These are the best things! My 14 month old son can eat his own lunch bag without making a mess and I am so thankful for this convenience! They remind me of the cap of a Camelbak water bottle so he actually has to suck on the bag to get the food out, if he just squeezes the bag without actively sucking at the same time he gets nothing. He learned it quickly, so no problem. I also think learning how to use a straw helped him. Tip: Make sure the caps are on all the way down, if they aren't all the way down (I do a little twisting motion to make it easier on them) your child can remove the topper completely. Also, they can be tricky to clean, but we bought a set of different Munchkin cleaning brushes (about $6) and just used what looks like a tiny toilet brush and sprayed on Dawn soap and they cleaned in two strokes .
