These are great value binoculars. The only thing is you really have to align the line of sight through the viewfinder or you'll just see a black or crescent effect. My 5 year old keeps complaining that he sees black but just doesn't align his field of vision properly. But when he uses my wide-field binoculars, he sees quite well. The only other issue is that we bought two pairs, a blue one for our son and a purple one for our daughter. The purple pair came with a black tote bag with a cool purple carabiner. However, the blue pair must have been an older tote bag as it lacked a loop with matching carabiner. It doesn't seem like such a big deal, but if you're trying to buy your kids the same thing so they don't fight over who's better, it kind of defeats the purpose. One had a carbine, the other didn't (Insert rolls his eyes).
